Every time I’m on the plane, or standing on the top of the mountain, I feel how tiny and powerless our human beings are. Compared to the nature, or even the buildings we constructed, each of us will only be a small dot, drown and disappear in the world.
Inspired by Esteban Pastorino Diaz, I wanted to take photos of huge scene and far distance, to make human figures as small dots in the whole picture.
Here’s the chosen photos:

I took it in Zermatt. The mountain lies behind is Matterhorn. The lake under it is a famous place (at least on instagram💆🏻♀️) to take travel photos.

This is also taken in Zermatt.

It was taken in Paris. I was standing on the Arc de Triomphe, looking at the people crossing the Champs-Élysées. To emphasise on the people and create a vertical view, I used Photoshop to wipe out the colour on both sides.

I took it on Centre Pompidou.

Still Centre Pompidou.

Another Centre Pompidou.

Hove.
It’s a process of going down from the mountains to the sea front, a change from vertical leading lines to horizontal, also a way to understand, accept and live with the fact that we are so small, ordinary, powerless and nonsignificant.
I see these people walking by, thinking that it might be the last chance I meet them in my whole life time. I see them smiling, crying, running, and thinking. I feel that I share the similar life and emotion with them. Everyone is unique and along, but also similar and tiny. Everything we are struggling with, happy about. Everything we want and don’t want. Everything stuck in our minds and made us couldn’t sleep. They are all so small and nonsignificant, and will disappear one day with us. But the sea will still be there, the mountain will still stands there, staring us trapped inside a shell of our own making.
Humans always believe ourselves powerful, the ruler on the earth. We take from the planet, and then build up a lot of constructions, chasing for more comfortable and civilised lifestyle. However, in some ways, we have already lost control of what we made to serve us. And of course, we’ve never gained the power to control the nature. We, humans, have already been the most powerless point, with arrogance and blinded eyes. We’ve lost control.
That is basically how I understand this project. But what I understand about art is that, the most attractive thing is, after publishing, every audience will arise different thoughts about the same photos. So I do hope that one day, maybe my work can inspire some people in their own ways.
The following is the collection of original photos before editing.
